INNOVATION IN MOBILITY

How do you ensure that you stay ahead as a leasing company? By listening carefully to customers and suppliers. Alphabet has made a strategic choice to shift its business model from car leasing to business mobility. Innovation is the priority here.

With an eye to the future, the decision was soon made in the project initiated for this purpose that the entire European platform should run on Java and cloud technology. This is thus the platform on which Alphabet develops its mobility solutions, enabling teams to add value to the business every sprint.

At Alphabet, the following matters are an ongoing focus:

  1. the reliability of the platform
  2. optimal automation of releases in accordance with the strictest compliance and quality requirements
  3. the continuous acceleration of the development line reducing costs by reducing dependencies with third parties or reducing the resource consumption of systems

HIGH-QUALITY SOLUTIONS

Alphabet is far advanced in working according to LeSS (Large Scale Scrum). Here, optimal attention and space are given to multidisciplinary, self-organising feature teams that master all the skills to deliver complete solutions. Autonomy, Mastery and Purpose are the guiding principles in the management of this process. This method of working has resulted in a lot of momentum in the development of the mobility platform and the development of a learning organisation.

At the same time, Alphabet has been proactive in binding various highly qualified IT suppliers for the long term, which has resulted in a high-quality software factory in terms of tools, processes and people.

STRONG PARTNERSHIP

Alphabet has therefore embraced the latest techniques and an efficient working method. This is already very powerful, but to realise innovation, the best people are needed! In addition to deploying their own employees within the various project teams, Alphabet also uses high-quality IT consultants to strengthen Alphabet. After a number of successful collaborations with various Dutch companies, Axxes came into contact with Alphabet in Breda at the end of 2019.

We soon noticed that the Axxes mindset was in line with Alphabet's corporate values.

QUALITY SERVICE // HIGH TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS // STRONG SOFT SKILLS

Both parties have taken the time to get to know each other intrinsically. By keeping regular contact with our own people, but also by building a qualitative long-term relationship. By keeping our finger on the pulse, we gain more insight into technical challenges and understand which type of person fits well in which team. Putting the right person in the right place is crucial for both Axxes and Alphabet.

THE QUALITATIVE IT CONSULTANTS

Some of these Axxes consultants are working on the OASIS project - Joey Comhaire, Rutger Van der Auwera and Jeroen Horemans. And why exactly do they fit in with this leading leasing company? They give the best of themselves day in and day out to ensure that innovation can be turned into solutions that make users happy.

Joey Comhaire

"The project itself is generally about managing vehicle leasing contracts. The project is divided into three large areas or groups, each of which is also divided into different teams. As a full-stack developer, I am in a team in the area that is responsible for managing the contracts (including lease terms, prices, drivers, etc.) and processing incoming and outgoing invoices. In this way, we ensure that all the work that people in the business now often have to do manually is largely automated. This way, contract managers or suppliers can focus on their core business tasks instead of losing time with repetitive, administrative work. In that respect, we are trying to make the work of the employees within BMW - Alphabet easier with the project."

Rutger van der auwera

"I joined Alphabet in January 2020 as a front-end developer in one of the development teams that help to ensure that the process from ordering a car to drawing up a contract runs smoothly. As a front-end developer, I use the knowledge and experience that I have gained in previous projects and within Axxes to think along with the team about the best solution to fill certain needs within the project. On the basis of this, I develop interfaces that are as user-friendly as possible for the users. I make sure that I write neat and understandable code and think about technological solutions that will continue to help in the future so that Alphabet as an organisation can always keep moving forward."

"I started working at Alphabet at the beginning of 2020, within the Offer Area. With my two colleagues at team X-men, we were given the task of replacing the current car policy rule engine with a new solution within the new platform. Requirements research, software design, setting up a new service, frontend, pipelines, implementation in the old application, integration with the 'Lease Services' backend, etc. We are on track to switch all customers to the new system by the end of 2020, without them noticing a thing."
